Choosing a school that matches those aspirations, that nurtures and encourages, that offers the widest possible opportunities to reach academic heights, that enables pupils to engage in a vibrant array of co-curricular activities and thought-provoking societies, and that delivers all of this in a nurturing and resilient environment, is hard to find.
Take a look at what our pupils achieved in 2022-2023:

How do we achieve this when we are not highly selective?
The teaching staff at Durham School are highly qualified and are excellent classroom practitioners; they are committed to helping their pupils be the very best they can be; many provide extra lunchtime clinics where pupils can access help outside of the classroom in a relaxed environment.
The class sizes are small, allowing our pupils to engage in personal group lessons, to have their voices and opinions heard and allow their teachers to monitor their progress closely.
Stretch and Challenge
Durham School aims to bring out the very best from its pupils, providing opportunities for everyone to discover a gift or talent and then build on their strengths. There are a huge amount of ways that every pupil can progress through stretching and challenging themselves, either as part of the academic curriculum or within the extensive range of activities outside the classroom.
