Salary: SC1 to SC6, £22,807 to £25,658
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours a week
Contractual Status: Permanent

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Rowing Coach to join our PE & Games team.
The job role is based in beautiful surroundings on the Durham School campus. Employees benefit from free parking, provision of high-quality meals and 25 days’ holiday per year
Key Responsibilities
- To lead and deliver the Strength and Conditioning provision to all pupils within the schools rowing program throughout the year, incorporating various stages of the season (e.g. pre and in season).
- Provide 1:1 S&C support to our Sports Scholarship pupils and pathway athletes
- Co-ordinate the delivery of other physical preparation services (e.g. nutrition, sleep, lifestyle, recovery, travel, hygiene)
- Provide specialist S&C input as required to support injury risk reduction, injury management, rehab and return to performance and competition from a youth sport perspective.
- Undertake physical performance testing in collaboration with the wider coaching team at various stages of the season along with integrated individual monitoring to ensure the efficacy of the training programs.
- Attend and contribute towards department meetings.
- To support the wider rowing program at training, events, competitions or where deemed necessary by the Director of Rowing
- To support the provision of S&C across the school.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of pupils at all times.
Person/Professional Specification
Essential:
- Degree in the field of Sport Science or Strength & Conditioning
- Confident in the delivery and planning of high-quality S&C programs
- Knowledge of, and ability to, teach Olympic lifting technique
- Working knowledge of Long term athlete development (LTAD)
- Experience at working within youth programs and coaching large groups
- Full Uk Driving License
Desirable:
- UKSCA Accreditation (or working towards)
- Knowledge of High Performance Rowing
- UKCC Level 2 Rowing
Special aptitudes required (Essential)
- Clear communicator in the English Language.
- Ability to interact with people at all levels and ages, particularly pupils & teachers.
- Efficient and able to organise own workload.
- A natural ability to teach, motivate and inspire others.
- Ability to work without regular supervision / management

Circumstances (Essential)
- Flexible to work long hours during term time including weekends and evenings
- Ability and willingness to travel when required to Regattas and Head races.
- Physically capable and medically fit to undertake the role.
