We are delighted to welcome our new Head of Sixth Form, Ms Harriet Thompson, to our Durham School community.
Harriet holds a first-class degree from Oxford University and in addition has an MA and MSc. Harriet will teach Economics and Business. Prior to joining us, Harriet was Assistant Head (Academic Development) and Head of Modern Studies at Ampleforth College; before that, she was Head of Economics and University Applications at Truro School.
Harriet spent a year in China, living in Anshan in Liaoning Province (in the North East of the country), from summer 2003 to summer 2004. She was employed as a Foreign Expert by Anshan Normal University and taught at the university. She also taught English at some of the university’s associated high schools in the area. Harriet is also a senior examiner on the new Edexcel Economics A level and part of the team that wrote the course.
We are excited to have such a brilliant member of staff on our team and we hope Harriet enjoys her time here.
