Durham School was honoured to host esteemed guests, Mr Mohamed Darwish and Ms Jo Maher, representing the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai. The KHDA is the government authority responsible for the growth and quality of private education in Dubai.
This visit holds significant importance as part of our ongoing commitment to fortify our affiliations with our sister school in Dubai, Durham School Dubai.
Engaging in thoughtful discussions, Mr Darwish and Ms Maher convened with our Leadership team, comprised of Headmaster of Durham School Mr Kieran McLaughlin, Chairman of the Governors, Mr Rob Ribchester, and Chairman of the Governors of Durham Dubai, Mr Nick Millen. The primary agenda centred on formulating strategies to elevate academic standards and maintain the highest levels of pastoral care at our Dubai institution.
Sustaining a resilient relationship with the governing authority, KHDA, remains pivotal for the prosperity of both our schools. Through collaborative endeavours, we ensure that our collective mission and values are woven into the fabric of the educational experience we offer. Mr Darwish and Ms Maher also enjoyed a tour of Durham School, learning more about our rich history going back over 600 years and witnessing our MARK values.
Mr Kevin Hannah, Director of International Operations, remarked, “It was a pleasure to welcome representatives from the KHDA in Dubai. We were able to discuss how we support our school there and ensure that the school represents our MARK values and instils an attitude of ‘Confidence for Life’ in their students."
Looking forward, our commitment to upholding exemplary standards at Durham School Dubai entails dispatching a team of our educators later this term, for a comprehensive inspection. This visit is to ensure Durham School Dubai continues to align with our mission and values, fostering an environment conducive to instilling confidence in students for both academic and personal achievements. The exchange of ideas and strategies not only directly benefits our students but also contributes significantly to the global tapestry of quality education.
We anticipate the continued triumph and expansion of our partnership with KHDA, working in tandem to shape the future landscape of education on a global scale. Diversity is thriving within our Dubai school, currently boasting pupils from 48 different nationalities. This vibrant mix of cultures allows our values to resonate with people from all walks of life, truly instilling Durham School's values on a global scale.
