This week Pre-School have been learning about castles, thinking especially about the castle in Durham. The children looked at the painting ‘Castle and Sun’ by Paul Klee and his use of colour and shapes, they then created their own wonderful pictures. Reception Class love to dance! This week they danced to the story of the sword in the stone which then inspired them to making crowns. Our EYFS children have enjoyed working together to play team games. Their favourites are the bean game and oranges and lemons. Year 1 travelled back in time in History this week, to learn all about Mary Anning, the famous fossil hunter. The children had the opportunity to explore a fossil from the same beach in Lyme Regis in which Mary Anning found her Ichthyosaur fossil! They liked exploring the feel and texture of the fossil, as well as studying the detail and shapes they could see. The children then created a poster to sell fossils just as Mary Anning did. Year2 have been working on their hockey skills in PE. They each had their own stick and had to avoid the cones by dribbling in and out.
