As part of their Scientists and Inventors topic, Year 2 investigated materials to see if they were waterproof and then used their results to design a waterproof coat. This week in Design and Technology, Year 1 created Arctic landscapes. The children studied different colours and how they make us feel, as well as exploring a range of Arctic photos of different landscapes and scenes. The children used a range of media to create their beautiful landscapes and they chose to add a Northern Lights background for next week’s work. Reception have been looking at weight/mass in their Maths lessons. They made a cake to celebrate ‘Kippers Birthday’ after reading the story and each ingredient in the cake had to balance/weigh the same as an egg. They then designed the topping and decorated them. Pre-School also had a busy week thinking about birthday celebrations. They also made cakes and sorted cards. All the children thoroughly enjoyed listening to the stories recorded and read to them by their Year 8 Mentors this week. To end Anti-Bullying Week the children all proudly wore their odd socks to celebrate how unique and wonderful they all are!
