Not even a global pandemic could stop three of our Sixth Form pupils from obtaining offers to study at Cambridge University.

Well done to Jonny A who received an offer to study History (Pembroke College), Maggie Q for Engineering (Fitzwilliam College), and Zofia Z for Psychological and Behavioural Sciences (Magdalene College).

Mr Carl Hope, Deputy Head of Sixth Form and Co-ordinator of Oxbridge applications said:

The three pupils receiving offers from Cambridge deserve full credit for this success, since getting offers from Oxford or Cambridge gets more challenging each year. For this application cycle there were over 48,000 applicants for Oxbridge, a jump of around 3000 more applications than just last year; yet the numbers each university can admit remains steady - a little over 7000.

Cambridge is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the world and receiving a place to study there is certainly an achievement to be proud of.

Mr Hope said:

The application process is long and gruelling, in essence stretching back to achievements at GCSE and preparations in Y12, but in Y13 alone after an early UCAS application deadline mid-October, there are admissions assessments to take at the start of November, written samples of work to submit by mid-November and interviews to negotiate in December - all this while maintaining very high academic standards across A levels!
