Sporting competitions in schools are common place, and there are a myriad of talented young athletes competing in traditional sports nationwide. Some, however, are showcasing their talents in a less traditional way.

During the week, Lucy is a happy pupil at Durham School in the North East of England. But outside of school, Lucy is an award-winning MotorSport champion, with multiple podium finishes under her belt.

Lucy has only been competing in MotorSport since 2021 when she followed her younger brother into racing, and she has quickly shot up the ranks since her first competitive appearance in the final rounds of the 2021 season.

Currently, Lucy is competing in both the British and Scottish Mini Bike Championships, and will be competing in the selected rounds 2022 with a focus on the Scottish Championship. She is fresh off a win at the Rowrah Circuit in September, with both Lucy and her brother taking 1st place overall in their respective groups.

She is currently placed in 3rd position in the Scottish Mini Moto Championship, with just 15 points separating the top three riders. Depending on the results of the next two rounds, Lucy could become the first female Junior Champion.

This is Lucy’s last hurrah in her current class, as in 2023 she will be advancing to a Mini GP (Metrakit 50) style bike, so she’ll be working hard to give a good send off.

The penultimate round of the Scottish Championship will take place at Knockhill Circuit on October 29th.
