For Children’s Mental Health Week, all of Pre-Prep and Pre-School have been taking part in lots of activities to help them express themselves in lots of different ways. All the children have weekly mindfulness sessions but this week there were some extra special activities.
Year 2 have drawn their feelings, thought about their star qualities, and made positive comments about each other. They wrote poems and decorated posters all about ‘Marvellous Me’.
Year 1 listened to a beautiful piece of music by the composer Ralph Vaughan Williams and drew what they could picture in their minds. Some children chose to take their pencil for a ‘walk’ and followed the rhythm of the music, and others drew wonderful pictures, with beautiful sunsets, oceans, and more.
Reception created a wonderful dragon which was a disguise for Pre-School!
The children in Pre-School have made ‘mindful moment’ masks. They used them to focus on some music and sounds which then allowed the children to express how they felt about what they could hear.
To round off the week everyone, whether in School or online, took part in ‘Dress to Express’ with everyone looking fantastic!
Thank you very much to everyone who has generously donated to our Just Giving page, raising funds for Place2be’s valuable work supporting children and young people with their mental health.
